On 21 June 2019, the Inauguration Ceremony of the Visual Intelligence Research Center of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Tsinghua University and the Technology Frontier and Industry Conference was held at Tsinghua University. Academician Zheng You, Vice President of Tsinghua University and Director of the Administrative Committee of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Tsinghua University, and Academician Bo Zhang, Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Tsinghua University, attended the inauguration ceremony and jointly unveiled the centre's plaque. ADVANCE.AI, a technology company that is committed to artificial intelligence industry in the Southeast Asia market in recent years, was invited to attend the inauguration ceremony. Dr Fanglin Wang, Head of ADVANCE.AI's computer vision team, shared a professional report entitled "Utilize Computer Vision Technology to Fight Fraud in Southeast Asia". The Visual Intelligence Research Center is the seventh centre established by the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Tsinghua University. The Visual Intelligence Research Center will strengthen the deep cross-border integration with industry, focusing on the research of trusted and safe machine vision theory and its key technologies, and strive to obtain innovative applications in intelligent manufacturing and intelligent auxiliary medical care through the combination with industrial application scenarios, so as to meet major national strategic needs and economic and social development needs.
Professor Zhidong Deng, Director of the Visual Intelligence Research Center, said that the conference is a starting point to carry out in-depth research on the third generation of visual artificial intelligence. The centre aims to carry out extensive and influential cooperation with industry and academia and to promote the "Intelligence +" cross-border integration of development and industrial application practice.
